Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide high-quality support, following the Participant Support Plan.
- Assist participants in meeting their personal support needs
- Assist participants to access and participate in their community and community activities
- Assist participants in maintaining their health and well-being
- Actively promote a safe, hygienic home environment
- Provide participants with opportunities to have personal choices, exercise autonomy, and exercise control over their own lives
- Promote participant dignity and self-esteem
- Ensure all medication is administered and recorded by the established procedure
- Maintain all participant records as required
- Report any incidents/near misses/hazards by Ability Plus Disability Services reporting procedures
- Be aware of and comply with Ability Plus Disability Services policies and procedures
- Adhere to the Staff Code of Conduct
- Utilise the online rostering, document and shift management system provided by Ability Plus Disability Services
- Maintain a high standard of infection control procedures
- Maintain existing occupational and safety procedures
- Wear all appropriate PPE when identified as necessary
- Attend mandatory training sessions as directed
Experience/Key Skills:
- Demonstrated experience working directly with people with disabilities
- Demonstrated record of outstanding customer service
- Experience working within a team environment
- Experience working with participants with complex care needs and/or willingness to be trained in complex care procedures
- Experience working autonomously
- An understanding of the needs of people with disabilities
- Work within the Disability Act (2006) to meet NDIS and TAC standards
- Encourage independence and support participants to maintain their skills
- Ability to use initiative, to work flexibly, to prioritise work and work autonomously
- An understanding of and commitment to a person-centred approach to service delivery
- An understanding and compliance of ‘duty of care’
- An understanding of and commitment to upholding the Staff Code of Conduct
- Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain regular positive communication with staff, program participants, families, advocates and other service personnel
- Ability to provide the highest standard of service whilst maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with all participant records and information in line with the Privacy Act (1988)
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Sound report writing skills with the ability to maintain all relevant documentation, reports and other records
Mandatory Training
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Ability Plus Disability Services - FORA Mandatory Induction and Training modules
- Individualised training sessions as directed by Ability Plus Disability Services
Qualifications:
Recognised qualification and /or considerable experience in Disability Support or Human Services
Worker Screening and Licences • NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Employment Working with Children’s Check
- Current vehicle and Valid VIC driver’s licence
