As a Graduate Data Analyst, you will be involved in gathering data from various sources and reviewing and interpreting it using data analysis tools, such as Power BI, Python, and our Azure cloud and data science infrastructure, to provide meaningful information and insights to help our Operations make better-informed decisions.

You will primarily work with our Longwall Operations area and become the expert in sensor data analysis and reporting, working closely with our UG Operations Mining Specialist. Ensuring our longwall mining operations are safe, stable, and capable is of utmost importance. The data and analysis you provide assist operations in making better decisions, leading to improved operational outcomes. You will be supporting Adhoc operational requests according to prioritisation; however, you will also work on other exciting projects with our Data Scientists and other Mining Specialists in solving challenges across different areas of our Operations.

This is a permanent opportunity for graduates who want to have a smarter future within mining. Initially, you will be offered a two-year graduate programme with Metallurgical Coal Analytics Centre based in our Brisbane office. The Metallurgical Coal (MetCoal) Analytics Centre, referred to as the “MAC”, is a centralised hub at the Brisbane Corporate Office, which will support MetCoal Australia operations by providing insights backed by data science and functional experts.

If you have a passion for analytics and learning new technologies in IIoT, cloud systems, data science, and analytics, and want to learn about mining operations and work with like-minded technologists, the MAC is the place to grow your career.

Our Longwall Operations are open 24/7. Whilst this job is primarily Monday to Friday, there might be after hours support required for high-priority incidents. You have the chance to make a difference in real analytics projects, from coding and cloud systems to the last mile of analytics, where decisions are made using data.

As part of your development, you will be required to work on crew at one or more of our underground operations located across Queensland.

If you are ready to make the most of everything you’ve learned so far, be challenged, work together with industry leaders, and be a part of a supportive and vibrant Graduate community, then Anglo American is ready

To qualify for the Anglo American Graduate Programme, you must:
