How you will make an impact
The Patient Services Assistant is a busy and exciting role that is often the first point of contact for patients and visitors to Cabrini’s hospitals. An integral member of their friendly and professional Patient Services team, the Patient Services Assistant facilitates patient registrations, admissions, and discharges to and from the medical wards, infusion centre, and emergency department.
The Patient Services Assistant is a valuable, frontline role in which people with an exceptional interpersonal manner, a caring and empathetic approach to people, and a keen interest in healthcare and private health funding will thrive.
The role requires flexibility and being adaptable, as it’s a busy environment and working.
Key responsibilities
- Creating digital and hard copy patient records
- Welcoming, registering and admitting patients to the hospital
- Performing Health Fund Eligibility checks for patients
- General administration tasks and data entry
- Discharging patients, including collecting payment of out-of-pocket costs
You will have
- Cert IV in Business or Medical Administration or relevant, equivalent working experience
- Comfortable dealing with patients, clinical staff and external stakeholders such as health funds in a professional and service driven manner
- Ability to maintain discretion dealing with sensitive and private patient information
- Ability to work efficiently, autonomously, and respectfully within the team
- Ability to multi-task in a high workflow environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
- IT literacy with experience in the Microsoft suite of products
- Capacity to work on a rotating roster that may include shift work to assist in the provision of a 24-hour service
