The Opportunity
This role is for an experienced Florist or someone looking to build on their existing knowledge base after completing their Certificate. The position plays an integral role in the day to day running of our florist operations - this includes creating beautiful floral arrangements, fulfilling online orders and serving customers. Working in a fast paced environment, no two days will be the same as we adapt to the ever changing needs of our customers. You will have the opportunity to expand on your floristry skills and use your creativity all while engaging with customers from all walks of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing excellent customer service in the florist and using your emotional intelligence to tailor service to meet the varying needs of our customers
- Receiving stock, unpacking deliveries, and prepping stock ready for arrangement and display
- Ensuring that the shop floor is adequately stocked, well presented and maintain plant care until ready for sale
- Filling and adapting/changing orders as required to meet the needs of our customers
- Using your creative experience to make arrangements to order and for display
- Operate in a COVID safe manner ensuring the safety of customers and employees
About You
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Genuine, authentic, and trustworthy person who comes to the table with problems and proposed solutions
- Industry qualified or studying certifications in floristry (Floristry Certificate III preferred but not required)
- Demonstrated experience working in customer service or retail and demonstrated experience using a POS system
- Demonstrated time management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- High level of eye for detail in design, colour matching and style in line with SMCT, the industry and customer needs.
- Understanding of the basics of plant care and maintenance
- Strong capability to work quickly and efficiently whilst working independently and within a team.
- Valid and current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Must be available to work Easter weekend, Mother's Day weekend, Father's Day weekend and Christmas Day.
- Must be willing to undertake a medical to determine fitness for job - this role requires the ability to lift heavy objects and unpack goods received
