Your role

Cement Australia recognises the value graduates add to their business. So, they designed a 2-year graduate program that gives you meaningful work, access to experienced mentors and the opportunity to learn and grow.

They are looking to ultimately develop you into an Operations Manager or technical expert - in the future you could be leading teams, improving plant reliability or being the one who solves some of their most complex and challenging problems. You will be given day-to-day responsibilities, critical project work (even managing your own!) and both structured and on-the-job learning. There may also be the opportunity to complete short projects that take you to other sites to broaden your experience.

As a Chemical Engineer

Joining the Operations division, you will be involved in the design, development and optimisation of processes related to the production of their chemicals and materials. With the goal of managing cement and clinker quality and variability, you will:

  • Assist in leading the Implementation of performance improvement ideas to help enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact
  • Provide day-to-day chemical engineering and product quality control support to the Quality manager.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of products throughout the rigorous testing and analysis
  • Work on projects that involve the transformation of raw materials into valuable products
  • Ensure efficiency, safety and sustainability are maintained throughout the entire manufacturing process
  • Coordinate with other teams to execute projects from conception to completion
  • Ensure that all processes adhere to safety regulations and industry standards

Manufacturing clinker and cement is a technical process, and you will be challenged as you work with the team to achieve operational goals, making a valuable contribution to each site.
