Waste Service Operator - TAFE Students Preferred null

Provide a range of asset maintenance and waste services as required by Waste Services. This is a varied role for someone wanting to build experience in managing waste and will take pride in keeping Monash precincts clean and tidy.

About the role

This role would suit someone with a Trade or TAFE Certificate, who has completed industry-based training or has experience gained by learning on the job. May work in the transfer station providing excellent customer services to guide community members to dispose of waste in a safe manner and operate heavy equipment (such as loaders or sweepers) to manage the site or manage waste in our precincts.

Successful applicants must have

• An understanding of, and working with OH&S standards, ideally relating to Waste Services and the handling of hazardous waste (or relevant)
• Ability to make inspections and maintain accurate records, such as daily running sheets
• Commitment to multi-skilling and associated training to support departmental service delivery and enhance own skills
• Commitment to working with Monash values of Accountability, Respect, Teamwork
• Commitment to positive and helpful customer service
• Capable team player who supports others and contributes to a positive workplace culture

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work flexible work hours outside the normal spread of hours (6.00 am - 6.00 pm) when required, and on occasion only, work night shift or early start rotations
• Hold a current Medium Rigid Licence (minimum requirement)
• Police Clearance Certificate

Advantages

• Experience in the waste or cleansing industry or related field
• Other Plant Licences is an advantage, but not essential
