About this opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Manager, Risk and Safety, this role provides a great career opportunity to grow your skills and experience in OH&S within Victoria’s most dynamic events space.

You will be responsible for assisting with the ongoing and day-to-day provision of OH&S support, advice, training, reporting functions and systems maintenance for Melbourne Showgrounds.

The successful candidate must be available and flexible to work on weekends and outside of normal working hours to accommodate events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Manager, OH&S in the delivery of OH&S training programs to employees, contractors, volunteers and others as required
  • Organise support materials, participants, catering and venues for OH&S training programs.
  • Coordinate maintenance of OH&S training records, ensuring that information is filed, and records are adequately maintained.
  • Develop and coordinate plans for OH&S-related training and Melbourne Showgrounds site inductions
  • Distribute monthly OH&S reports and ad hoc reports as required
  • Actively participate in formal and informal communication to increase and enhance the understanding and awareness of OH&S issues internally and externally
  • Consult, engage and monitor contractor and third-party activities, including high-risk work activities with respective stakeholders, provide feedback and collaboratively manage identified issues

What are we looking for?

  • Qualifications (or working towards) in OH&S or similar background, a sound understanding of OH&S legislative requirements, proficiency at using and generating documents with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a broad knowledge and experience in risk assessments and audit processes.
  • A team player with good communication skills and a capacity to engage with all levels internally and externally, the capability to manage conflict and change effectively and good consultative and efficient time management skills.

What is in it for you?
We offer a fun and supportive culture as well as a wide range of benefits including on-site car parking, income protection, the opportunity to attend events at Melbourne Showgrounds and support flexible working arrangements.
