Work is almost entirely in the office. Primarily analysing data with spreadsheets and creating strategies.

I work in Scada & Telecommunication team in Asset Performance function. As part of my job, I look into existing grid automation assets, and I am working in a data migration project.

I am a technology graduate currently assigned as a Business Analyst working on an information management project. My day-to-day responsibilities include attending meetings to facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders within the company. I conduct data analysis to ensure data accuracy and write scripts to optimize workflows. Additionally, I collaborate with team members to ensure project milestones are met, document processes, and provide support in implementing solutions that enhance our information management practices.

In my role within operational asset performance for transmission lines, I focus on ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the network. My daily responsibilities include conducting defect reviews based on the type of asset and the nature of the fault. These are meticulously recorded in defined spreadsheets and the Ellipse software for tracking and analysis. I also lead investigations into asset failures, performing root cause analyses by leveraging field crew reports and network operations data. This information is then documented for future reference to enhance preventive measures. Additionally, I create project scopes for new asset management programs, ensuring alignment with budget constraints, and make data-driven decisions aimed at optimizing maintenance actions and enhancing the network's readiness for both planned and unplanned events.

My fault - getting a lot of grunt work, the kind of work you would delegate to entry level- data sifting, simple research that they could do in a day, they should expect a little more from me.

My day-to-day responsibilities include, checking and replying to emails. As an engineering grad you get to work on multidisciplinary projects, which is quite exciting as you get to learn a lot about different departments and how they operate. Team meetings, spotlight sessions and meet-ups are also a part of the daily life here at western power.

My role as a design engineering is proposal of engineering solution for transmission and distribution automation projects. I start my day exploring different applications to gather information for the best possible solution for the network automation. Rest of my time is spending between checking the drawings, writing reports and drafting designs. There are various social events that help with networking with multiple functions.

At the moment it is quite sporadic as it is at random sites each day doing commissioning work but previous rotations in different departments have been great.

Depending on the sub team within BIDA, you will have different responsibilities. Working in Predictive Analytics, I find myself assisting with forecasting electricity demand, forecasting accuracy/model selection, and reliability of our electricity network.

Changes based on current rotation. Rotation at the moment is construction management, which requires me to schedule contractors and provide support to field crew.
