Dirk joined the IGO Graduate Program in 2019, and now works full time as the Ventilation Officer at our Nova Operation. Dirk explains how all the skills he learnt during the Program have prepared him for his current role, and he has thoroughly enjoyed his time working for IGO.

Try to build good habits at an early age such as have a good work-life balance, take time out for yourself to do things you enjoy.

Take a little risk and never be afraid to make mistakes – as long as you learn from them!

I really enjoy the level of collaboration and teamwork that I have in my role – since working here I’ve done projects with almost every team.

Generally, some proficiency in mathematics and programming will be useful, but no prior experience in financial markets is required.

I love interacting with others and learning from the perspectives and information offered from all angles from within the Agency, participants, providers, and other Government departments.
